Metadata
Metadata provides search engines and users with information about a webpage’s content, which can then influence click-through rates and rankings. Meta descriptions should be clear and enticing, often ending with a call to action. Each meta description should be tailored to fit the specific content of the page. Effective metadata should be a balance of keywords with readability.
Two primary types of metadata for SEO
- Meta title: Should be a concise, keyword-rich headline that describes the
page’s main topic. (Yoast will tell you the status of the title. Title
should always be Green)
- Titles/headlines should usually be kept to 50 - 60 characters long to ensure a full title displays in a search engine result. They should be unique for each page.
- Meta description: Is a brief summary, usually up to 160 characters, that appears beneath the title and offers a preview of the content. (Yoast will tell you the status of the title. Description should always be Green)
